Who We Are

Welcome to Algoritheme — you can find us at https://algoritheme.com.
We’re committed to keeping your personal data safe, transparent, and under your control.

Comments

When you leave a comment on the site, we collect the information you share in the comment form, plus your IP address and browser details. This helps us keep the site safe from spam.

If you use Gravatar, an anonymous version of your email (called a hash) may be sent to their service to check if you have a profile there. You can read their privacy policy here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture might show up next to it.

Media

If you upload images here, try not to include any location data (like GPS info) in them. Visitors can sometimes download and view that data, so it’s best to keep it private.

Cookies

If you leave a comment, you can choose to save your name, email, and website in cookies. This just makes things easier for you next time — no need to re-enter your details. These cookies last about a year.

When you visit the login page, a temporary cookie checks if your browser accepts cookies. It doesn’t store any personal info and disappears once you close your browser.

If you log in, we’ll set a few cookies to remember your login details and display settings. Login cookies last for two days, and display preference cookies last for a year. If you click “Remember Me,” your login stays active for two weeks. Logging out removes these cookies.

If you edit or publish an article, your browser saves one more cookie — it only stores the ID of the post you worked on, and it expires after one day.

Embedded Content

Sometimes, articles here might include things like videos, images, or posts from other websites. When you view that content, it’s just like visiting that site directly. Those sites might collect your data, use cookies, or track how you interact with their content — especially if you’re logged into your account on their platform.

Who we Share Your Data With

If you ask for a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email to help verify the request.

How Long we Keep Your Data

When you leave a comment, we keep it (and any related info) indefinitely. This helps the system recognize you and approve future comments faster.

If you register for an account, we store the personal details you add to your profile. You can always see, edit, or delete your own info (except your username). Site administrators can also view and update that data.

Your Rights Over Your Data

If you’ve left comments or have an account, you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we have about you. You can also ask us to delete it — though we may keep anything needed for legal, security, or administrative reasons.

If you’re in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the UK, you also have the right to:

  • Access, correct, or erase your data.
  • Restrict or object to how we process it.
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time (without affecting past lawful processing).

To exercise these rights, please email us at privacy@algoritheme.com. We’ll respond within 30 days as required by the GDPR.

Where Your Data Goes

Your comments may go through an automated spam detection system to keep the site safe and clean.

Some of our service providers (like hosting, email, or analytics) may store or process data outside your country. We only work with trusted partners that meet GDPR-level security and privacy standards.

Child Protection and Online Safety

Protecting children’s privacy online is extremely important to us.

  • Age Limitation: Algoritheme is not directed at children under 13 (or the age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect or store personal data from children.
  • Parental Consent: If you are under 13, please do not use this website or share any personal information unless you have a parent or guardian’s permission.
  • If Data Is Collected by Mistake: If we discover that we have collected personal information from a child without verified parental consent, we will delete that information immediately.
  • Parental Rights: Parents or guardians can request access to, review, or delete their child’s personal data by contacting privacy@algoritheme.com.
  • Educational Content: Some parts of the site may include learning material for young students. These are purely educational and do not require personal data submission.
  • COPPA Compliance: We follow the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and all related laws protecting minors’ online privacy.
  • Contact for Concerns: If you believe we might have any information about a child under 13, please contact us right away so we can remove it.

Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we process personal data based on one or more of these lawful grounds:

  • Consent: When you voluntarily give us permission (for example, joining a newsletter).
  • Contractual necessity: When processing your data is needed to provide a service you requested.
  • Legal obligation: When we must comply with a law or regulation.
  • Legitimate interests: When it’s necessary for the smooth running of Algoritheme and doesn’t override your rights or freedoms.

Data Security

We use secure servers, encryption where applicable, and limited access controls to protect your personal data from loss, misuse, or unauthorized access.

Still, no system is 100% secure. If a data breach ever occurs, we’ll notify affected users and relevant authorities within the legally required time frame.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect new practices or legal requirements. When we do, we’ll post the updated version here with a new “Last Updated” date.
